Menjangan Island

Menjangan Island’s best diving season is said to be during the months of April to November or during the south east monsoon. The site offers the most protected diving in Bali. It is approximately 30- 60 minutes by boat from Labuan Lalang.

Menjangan has become popular for its wall diving. The walls descend to depths varying from 26 meters or 85 feet, being the shallowest, to 60 meters or 197 feet as the deepest. They offer the best diversity of gorgonian fans in Bali. They actually begin with the flat coral reefs at 10 meters which offer gentle conditions and sunlight. There are varieties of medium and small fish. The walls have plenty of crannies and nooks, overhangs, cavelettes, crevasses and more. In addition, the walls are surrounded with soft corals and sponges as well as the gorgonian fans. Its marine life also includes turtles, barracudas, big eyed Trevally, and bat fish.

Large pelagic fishes are rare to see in this site because the island is protected from the cold currents arriving from the open sea.

Menjangan is also known for its amazingly beautiful walls, warm water and white sand. It has the highest rate if DCS of all the other Bali dive sites.

Some of the famous dive sites in Menjangan Island are The Eel Garden, Pos II, and the extreme deep dive at 40 meters or 11 feet to the 150 year old wooden boat, the Anker Wreck.
