• Sipadan Dive Sites

  Welcome to coral paradise, where a prolific diversity of over 200 species of fish and turtle, and over 70 genera of corals covers the excellent dive sites surrounding Sipadan Island.

  Most Sipadan dive sites offers excellent diving. Start with the deepest point, gradually rising to shallow waters beside or over the reef top, where you can de-gas pleasantly while scuba diving at one of the best dive site of the world!

• 1. Barracuda Point

  

  Very large group of Barracudas are often sighted at the Barracuda Point dive site, though the dive can be rough, with variable and possibly strong currents that sometime reverse. Novices are advisable to stay close to the divemaster.

• 2. Coral Gardens

  

  Southeast of Barracuda Point lies the Coral Garden dive site. Coral crest features vast field of stony corals interspersed with smaller areas of soft corals, large boulder corals and large leeathery corals and sponges.

• 3. Hanging Gardens

  

  On the west face of the reef lies the Hanging Gardens dive site, southwest of the navigation light tower in Sipadan Island. The drop-off and down wall contain lots of overhangs, sea fans, black corals, sponges and barrel sponges, giving this dive site the name Hanging Gardens.

• 4. Lobster Lairs

  

  At Lobster Lairs dive site, several narrow crevices in the corals are where the lobsters hide. These timid creatures are especially active in the night where they come out to hunt.

• 5. Midreef

  

  Inexperience divers may dive the reef crest covered in stony and soft corals with most of the colourful Pacific reef fish, oysters, Giant Clams and many turtles around White Tip Avenue and Midreef dive sites.

• 6. North Point

  

  One of the world’s best beach dive site, the drop-off goes deep down with corals and shoals of goatfish, sea urchuns, sea stars and crabs. Huge shoal of jacks, Spotted Sweetlips and juvenile batfish has been encountered after the drop-off.

• 7. South Point

  

  A dozen or more Whitetip Reef Sharks and the occasional Leopard Shark are often seen in the South Point Dive Site in Sipadan Island, though bracing yourself for photography can be rather challenging and difficult.

• 8. Staghorn Crest

  

  Lots of shoaling firsh, especially fusiliers, snappers and Rainbow Runners, plus unicornfish, jacks, scorpionfish, stonefish, batfish, surgeonfish, jacks, scorpionfish, stonefish and more, could be found in the Staghorn Crest dive site immediately west of South Point dive site.

• 9. The Jetty, Jetty Beach & Drop-off Below

  

  One of the world’s best beach dive site, the drop-off goes deep down with corals and shoals of goatfish, sea urchuns, sea stars and crabs. Huge shoal of jacks, Spotted Sweetlips and juvenile batfish has been encountered after the drop-off.

• 10. Turtle Cavern

  

  The famous Turtle Cavern dive site has been romanticized as the place where turtles go to die. A large cavern descends to 21 meters, the Turtle Cavern dive site east of Sipadan Island jetty is home to shoals of flashlight fish and specialized shrimps and crabs.

• 11. Turtle Patch

  

  Hawksbill turtle, huge shoal of bumphead Parrotfish and Whitetip Reef Sharks has been spotted in Turtle Patch dive site. Expect light currents although they may get stronger.

• 12. West Ridge

  

  As its name suggest, West Ridge dive site lies on the west of Sipadan Island, covered with plenty of overhands containing Tubastea and Dendrophyllia corals, large gorgonian sea fans and black corals.

• 13. White Tip Avenue

  

  Whitetip Avenue dive site features deeper water over the drop-off, especially between 30 to 50 meters where big black corals, huge gorgonian sea fans and many large barrel sponges covered in Alabaster Sea Cucumbers can be spotted.
